MRS. CLAUS & HELPERS PROGRAM

This workshop is all about Mrs. Claus and other helpers. The session focuses on moving from a basic Mrs. Claus to a dynamic, multifaceted performer. Through sharing, presentations and discussions, participants will explore ways helpers can work with Santa for a complementary, partnered performance. Attention will also be given to opportunities and options for solo appearances by Mrs. Claus and the elves.

Participants will delve into the history, character, and role of Mrs. Claus and holiday helpers. A variety of historical literature will be highlighted,  showing the development of Mrs. Claus. The importance of backstory and storytelling will be emphasized with opportunities to practice thinking on your feet. Types of events and tips for success will be covered. Developing a holiday wardrobe and ideas for various looks for Mrs. Claus will be shared. Tips for successful photos will be shared and will be discussed. Participants will begin to create promotional materials utilizing a variety of marketing techniques. Tips for spreading out tasks over the course of the year will be discussed.

Ample time will be provided for participants to rotate through multiple hands-on centers. Some centers will be guided with full class participation while others will be free choice with participants having an opportunity to rotate through and develop or practice a variety of skills.  Topics such as puppetry, music, simple magic, prop creation, accessory creation, simple craft ideas, interactive stories and digital ideas and tips utilizing your own device will be available.

Resource lists, activity worksheets, and other materials will be provided.
